If you are searching for a fine line tattoo in Delhi, this page is written for you: what the work looks like at Inkspace, how we plan it with you, what it costs, and how to book. Our studio sits on the first floor at Space Gully, Hauz Khas Village, and fine line is one of the styles we are asked for most often.
Getting fine line work done in Delhi
Delhi has no shortage of studios that will tattoo a small delicate design. The difficulty is that fine line is the least forgiving style there is — one slow single pass, no shading layer to hide a wobble — so the outcome depends almost entirely on who holds the machine and how much planning happened before the needle touched skin.
At Inkspace, fine line is booked as considered custom work, not as a walk-in add-on. Every piece starts with a consultation, gets redrawn to fine line specifications, and is tattooed by one of our two resident artists in a private room. If you want the technical explanation of the style itself — needle groupings, depth, how it heals — read the fine line style guide. This page is about actually getting it done here.
How we work on fine line at Inkspace
We are a two-artist resident studio, which matters more for fine line than for any other style: the person who consults with you is the person who draws your stencil and tattoos you. There is no handover, and no guest artist rotation.
Bruna Freespirit leads our fine line, minimal blackwork, lettering and script work. Chetan Salhotra, who founded the studio, also works across fine line alongside realism, portrait, cover-up and large-scale pieces — so if your idea sits between styles, or you want fine linework built into something bigger, that conversation happens on the consult.
You can see current fine line pieces in our fine line portfolio, and read more about our approach to working in Delhi on the tattoo artist in Hauz Khas page.
What to think about before your consultation
Most of the useful decisions in fine line happen before the appointment. Three things are worth thinking about in advance.
Scale. Fine line rewards a little more room than people expect. A design that looks perfect at 3cm on a screen often needs 5–6cm on skin for the internal detail to stay open and readable as it settles. On the consult we will tell you the smallest size a specific design can be tattooed at honestly, and if it cannot hold at the size you want, we will say so rather than shrink it and hope.
Detail density. Two lines that sit very close together will read as one line eventually. Where a reference has dense hatching or overlapping strokes, we redraw with more breathing space — the design keeps its character and stays legible for longer.
Composition. Fine line pieces are usually small, which makes their relationship to the body part more visible, not less. A stem that follows the curve of a forearm reads completely differently from the same stem placed straight across it.
Choosing a design
The fine line requests we see most at Inkspace fall into a few broad groups, all of which are represented in our portfolio:
- Minimal and single-line designs — small symbols, continuous-line shapes, quiet marks with no fill.
- Botanicals — single stems, sprigs, leaves, small floral arrangements.
- Illustrative work — small figures, animals, objects drawn with hairline detail.
- Lettering and script — names, dates, short quotes, handwriting.
You do not need a finished design to book. Most clients arrive with a handful of references, a rough idea of placement, and a feeling for what they want it to say. Your artist redraws from there — every tattoo at Inkspace is drawn for the individual client rather than picked from a sheet.
Choosing placement
Placement is where fine line either earns its longevity or loses it. We work through this with you in person, but as general guidance: low-friction, low-sun areas — inner forearm, outer upper arm, upper back, collarbone — hold delicate linework best over time. High-friction areas such as fingers, palms and the sides of hands soften considerably faster, regardless of who does the work and how well.
That is not a reason to avoid a placement you actually want. It is a reason to know what to expect before you commit, so you are choosing with the full picture rather than being surprised in two years.
The process, start to finish
- Free consultation. Send your references, placement and rough size through the consultation form or on WhatsApp. It is free, and it is where the design conversation actually happens. In-studio consultations usually run 20–40 minutes.
- Design and quote. Your artist redraws the piece to fine line specifications and confirms a fixed quote on WhatsApp. Nothing is tattooed until you have approved the design, size, placement and price.
- Booking. Once design and date are agreed, a small refundable deposit locks the slot and is adjusted against your final bill. You can book here.
- The session. One client in the room at a time, on the first floor at Space Gully. Stencil placement is checked in the mirror and moved as many times as it takes before we start.
- Healing and touch-ups. You leave with aftercare guidance and a take-home kit, and we check in over WhatsApp during the first two weeks. Fine line often softens slightly as it heals — for resident-artist fine line work we include one free touch-up within 60 days.
What fine line costs at Inkspace
We do not quote fine line by the look of the design, because a small piece can take considerably longer than a larger one. Pricing follows the same published studio model as every other style: a ₹2,000 studio minimum, then either per square inch (₹2,000 for the first square inch, ₹1,000 for each additional), hourly at ₹3,000, or per session at ₹15,000 for larger multi-sitting projects. Your artist recommends the fairest model for your specific piece on the consult.
Full detail, including how each model is applied, is on the Delhi tattoo pricing page. Your exact quote is always confirmed in writing before you commit to a date.
Aftercare
Fine line heals fast but shows carelessness quickly — sun, friction and picking do the most damage in the first fortnight. Rather than repeat it here, we keep one detailed resource: the Inkspace aftercare guide walks through healing day by day, and your artist takes you through the same routine before you leave the studio.
Ready to talk it through?
If you are in Delhi and thinking about a fine line piece, the next step is a free consultation — bring references, or bring nothing but an idea. We are at Space Gully, Hauz Khas Village, open Monday to Sunday, 12–9pm, and we reply on WhatsApp the same day.
