Hauz Khas Village, first floor, Space Gully. If you're looking for a tattoo artist in Hauz Khas, we're a short walk from the Village gate — past the deer park entrance, opposite the old reservoir steps.
The studio is private and appointment-based. Most clients spend twenty minutes on a consult upstairs (chai included), then come back for the session once the stencil is approved. Walk-ins are welcome but Saturday slots fill a week ahead.
Our resident artists live in Delhi and work full-time out of Hauz Khas — you're not booking a flying guest artist or a rotating chair. The same person who consults you draws your stencil and tattoos you on the day.
Meet the artists
Inkspace is a two-artist resident studio. You'll work with the same person from consult to healed result — no rotating chair, no flying guests.
Chetan Salhotra — founder, 20 years tattooing. Chetan opened Inkspace in Hauz Khas after two decades in the chair across Delhi and abroad. He works across realism, black-and-grey portrait, cover-ups, large-scale Japanese, geometric, anime, floral and script. If a piece needs heavy custom drawing — a portrait from a single photo, a sleeve that has to read as one composition, a cover-up that has to swallow an existing tattoo — Chetan is usually the artist you'll be matched with. He runs the consult, draws the stencil, and tattoos the session himself.
Bruna Freespirit — resident, eight years tattooing. Bruna leads our fine line, minimal blackwork, lettering and script work. Her line is consistent enough to hold tiny pieces (hand, finger, behind-ear) without blowout, and clean enough to scale up to ribcage script. Most first tattoos at Inkspace go to Bruna; so do most fine line couple, sibling and memorial pieces.
Both artists live in Delhi, tattoo full-time out of Hauz Khas, and answer their own WhatsApp consults. You can meet the artists here before you book.
Fine line tattoos
Fine line is the most-requested style at the Hauz Khas studio. We tattoo it the way it's meant to last — single-needle or three-round-liner, light pressure, conservative size for the placement.
What we tattoo most often:
- Minimal symbols, single-word script and dates (forearm, wrist, ribs)
- Floral and botanical line work (spine, ribcage, upper arm)
- Hand-poke-style line work done with a machine for cleaner healing
- Couple, sibling and memorial pieces with matching line weights
Fine line is unforgiving on placement and aftercare. We'll say no to fingers and palms for most clients because the ink doesn't sit — and we'll suggest a slightly larger size if the reference is too tight to read after healing. The full fine line tattoo portfolio for Delhi lives on its own page if you want to see healed work before booking.
Realism tattoos
Realism is Chetan's primary discipline. Most realism pieces at the studio are black-and-grey portrait, animal portrait, or single-object compositions (a watch, a rose, an eye). Colour realism is available on request and is priced by session.
What changes the price and the timeline:
- Source photo quality. A sharp, high-contrast reference cuts the drawing time in half. Phone photos lit from the front usually work; screenshots from social media rarely do.
- Size and placement. A palm-sized portrait on the forearm reads sharper than the same portrait shrunk to a wrist. We'll recommend the smallest size the detail can survive.
- Skin tone and healing history. Black-and-grey realism on darker skin tones needs a slightly different value range; we plan for it in the consult.
Most realism pieces run across two to four sessions, four to six weeks apart. We don't pack two long realism sessions into the same week — the skin needs the gap.
Cover-up tattoos
Cover-ups are the most common reason clients travel to Hauz Khas from outside South Delhi. The honest version of cover-up work: not every old tattoo can be covered in one pass, and the new design has to be bigger and darker than the original.
How we approach a cover-up consult:
- Send a clear, well-lit photo of the existing tattoo over WhatsApp.
- We'll reply with one of three answers — direct cover-up, cover-up after two or three laser sessions, or "this needs full removal first."
- If it's coverable, Chetan designs a new piece that uses the old shape as part of the composition (negative space, shading direction, or outline absorption).
We don't recommend covering with fine line. The cover-up portfolio includes realism cover-ups (tigers, florals, geometric mandalas), large blackwork, and Japanese-style pieces that work specifically because they're dense.
Walk-in tattoos in Hauz Khas
The studio is appointment-based but we keep walk-in slots on weekdays for small, in-stock flash pieces — usually under two hours, usually on forearm, calf or upper arm placements where placement matters less.
How walk-ins work:
- Weekday afternoons (Tuesday–Friday, 12–4 PM) are the easiest windows. Saturday and Sunday are almost always pre-booked.
- Walk straight up the stairs at Space Gully, first floor. If both artists are mid-session, we'll give you a return time within the hour rather than ask you to wait.
- What we can do same day: small fine line, single-word script, simple symbols, small flash from our binder.
- What we can't do same day: custom realism, cover-ups, anything that needs a drawn stencil from scratch. Those still need a consult window first.
If you're already in Hauz Khas Village and want to check availability before walking over, WhatsApp +91 9711 361 010 with what you're thinking of getting and we'll tell you if there's a chair open.
Why clients choose Inkspace in Hauz Khas
A few specific things clients say when they leave a review:
- One artist, start to finish. The person who consults you draws your stencil and tattoos you. No handover, no junior taking the easy parts.
- Private first-floor room. We're not a street-front studio — no walk-by interruptions, no shop-floor noise during your session. Daylight, AC, single chair.
- Custom design over flash. Roughly 80% of what leaves the studio is drawn for the client; we use our flash binder mostly for walk-ins.
- Healed-result portfolio. The gallery shows healed work, not just fresh-out-of-the-machine shots. Fresh tattoos always look sharper than the healed version — we publish both so you can plan accordingly.
- One studio, one location. We don't operate a chain. The Hauz Khas Village studio is the only Inkspace location.
- WhatsApp consults reply same day. Most consults get a response within two hours during studio hours (12–9 PM).
Before you book, it's worth reading the tattoo pricing page for Delhi so the consult conversation skips the basic numbers, and the piercing services page if you're adding a piercing the same visit.
