This client wanted a specific Kanji symbol, a direct representation of personal strength, rendered cleanly. The focus was entirely on the legibility and impact of the character itself, without any additional ornamentation complicating the meaning. We ensured the character's traditional form was respected while adapting it for skin.

Why this design

For this Kanji, we opted for a classic, unadorned stroke. The client and we agreed that keeping it simple showcased the character's inherent strength, avoiding any flourishes or extra detailing that could detract from the core message. The silhouette is crisp and defined, which helps in maintaining clarity over time.

Placement notes

The forearm provides an excellent, relatively flat canvas for script work like this. It allows for good visibility if the client chooses to display it, yet can be easily covered. The skin here is generally stable, which helps in preventing distortion as the tattoo ages, maintaining line integrity.

Technical challenges

Executing this, our primary focus was on achieving a consistent, solid black line throughout every stroke of the Kanji. We used a tight liner and worked with slow, deliberate passes to ensure maximum ink saturation and a uniform depth. This minimizes the need for touch-ups and promotes a clean, sharp appearance post-healing.
